Review Process
Submissions are reviewed on a rolling basis. Please note that articles written by our staff journalists are prioritized, so there may be a delay before external submissions are reviewed.
Because we are a publication designed for a general audience, all submissions are evaluated for:
- Clarity and ease of understanding
- Readability for readers (assume approximately a high school–level science education)
- Accuracy and responsible science communication
We may request revisions before moving forward with final approval to ensure the article aligns with our mission of making science clear, engaging, and accessible.
- Topic: Must be science-related (including research, policy, health, technology, environment, or related fields)
Audience Level: Written so that someone with a high school–level science background can understand the material
Length: No strict word limit. However, very long pieces (e.g., full scientific journal–length manuscripts) may be split into multiple parts at the editors’ discretion
Visuals: Graphics, figures, or illustrations are encouraged, but not required, to improve reader understanding
Thumbnail Image: A thumbnail image is required for publication. If you do not have one, our team will create one for you and will provide it for your approval before publication.
If your article has co-authors, includes interview material, or involved significant contributions from others (e.g., editing, data analysis, or writing), all contributors must approve the article before it can be published.
