Dear Reader:
Welcome to Science, Translated, a science-based international publication intended to educate, inform, and inspire the general public and the next generation of budding scientists.
Science, Translated was founded in 2020 with the main intention of bridging the gap between researchers and academia and the general public. There is groundbreaking research happening around us every day, discoveries changing the way we view the principles of this world, yet the public is often not made aware of these notable advancements due to a lack of information flow between researchers and the public.
We at Science, Translated recognized this problem and founded this publication to bring together students interested in the sciences with the goal to “translate” or simplify the jargon contained in research articles. With the current organization of the publication, journalists have a chance to contribute to the Science News and Science Myths portions of our publication.
Science News contains the translation of complex research articles into easy-to-understand articles meant for the general public. These are intended to allow those not specialized in the sciences to understand and keep up-to-date with scientific research and discovery.
The Science Myths portion is intended to dispel common myths and misconceptions present within the realm of science. Journalists will identify and debunk the misinformation spread about topics relating to health, the environment, and many other subjects and ultimately share the scientifically proven interpretations of these topics.
We hope that browsing Science, Translated will not only be an informational experience, but also an enjoyable one. Science should be shared and cherished as a foundation that makes up a great deal of our everyday lives. If you aren’t a reader, we hope the intriguing articles brought to you by our talented journalists will change that. Our graphic artists will also be hard at work creating visuals to supplement the article and enhance your reading experience.
Finally, being a new publication we want our readers to play a role in the progression of our organization. Please reach out to us with any suggestions, comments or concerns on our website or our social media, and we will value any opinions you have to share about our work. After all, creating the best scientific work is all about collaboration and the sharing of ideas.
Thank you for your involvement, and we hope that you will gain something valuable from our publication.
Sincerely,
Saumya Tawakley & Ashley Yeh
